Abeer Sulaiman Al-Omar holds the position of Senior Executive, Corporate Communications & Government Affairs, at EQUATE. Within her area of responsibility, she leads several functions, including: corporate communication; corporate and government services; business advocacy; and she leads the EQUATE Sustainability Committee that includes responsibility for corporate social responsibility and sustainability Initiatives. She is also in charge of launching the Women Empowerment Program at EQUATE. She joined the company in its early stages and has been a part of the Executive Management Team (2011-2015) and held several administrative positions within human resources, including her last position as Senior Executive, Administration and Corporate Services.
Besides her regular responsibilities, Al-Omar was a member of the MEGlobal Synergy & Integration Strategy Team (2016), tasked with facilitating the seamless combination of EQUATE and MEGlobal. She was also a member of the EQUATE Strategic Committee (2008-2010) in charge of advising the reshaping of EQ strategy. She held the position of Vice President (2008-2010) for the HR Committee of the Gulf Petrochemicals & Chemicals Association (GPCA), launching several key HR initiatives with members. In 2006 she was seconded to an international assignment in Zurich and London for Equipolymers and MEGlobal joint ventures. She has been recently selected to be a part of Empowering Kuwaiti Women in Politics (EKWIP), an organization that aims to prepare women for greater political leadership in Kuwait (2018).
Abeer obtained her PhD in Business Administration (DBA) in 2016 from the University of Bradford, with a focus on Effective CEO Leadership behaviours. She graduated with a Bachelor of Business Administration degree from Kuwait University and Master of Strategic Management degree from Maastricht Business School. She also accomplished the highest level of the Advanced Management Program (2013) at Harvard Business School.
Al-Omar has submitted many papers and presentations at a number of local and regional conferences about EQUATE’s experiences in the development of human resources and leadership in the petrochemical sector. She has been a presenter at many women’s forums. Her hobbies are adventure travel and music. Abeer is a proud mother of a son who has recently graduated as an economist and is currently working in the financial sector.
